Back from three days of camping. Good fun. Slightly sunburned, good workout though. I think we lugged 20kg packs over steep and/or broken ground for about 4-5 hours a day. Landscape was beautiful. Some of it had the same colour palette as Avatar seems to. There was a lot of wide, sandy riverbeds with large lavender and duckegg-blue rocks and boulders, with an even stippling of incredibly bright green plantlife shooting up straight and thin at regular spaces. Slept by rivers, on sand. Finally had an opportunity to learn how to correctly strap a weighted pack, which is going to be invaluable. The mountains were the entire world there, and every single tree had a blackened trunk. When that place was burning, it would have been a thing to see. Hard to imagine.

Nettie loaned me her camera. No idea how the shots turned out. If they're decent I'll post a couple.

Sorted a few things out, decided my first tattoo will be 'Stasis Is Death', which I'll get done here. I'll be getting another done over there.

Muscles hurt good. Going to watch Nightbreed. Hope yours was a good one.

Those three days went fast!

I humbly request pics of your tattoo when it's done. :]

Not sure about the design yet. Might just be the words, might build it into something more elaborate. Leaning towards the former, with a carefully chosen font. Keep it simple.

The camping sounds great. We lugged light packs for 25k to the Wilson's prom lighthouse a while back. That was hell on legs.

Much incline? Sounds like it. Also - new growth burnt bush is amazing.

We had a nice quiet one with folks in the hills outside Ballarat.

Merry tidings of the seasonal sort.

It could have been more forgiving, but on the second day we deviated from a defined route onto a 'trail' defined only by markers and ribbons tied to trees. That was pretty much a 60-75-degree angle the whole time. Got a few cuts and bruises. Kept it interesting though.

Glad you had a good one.

Sounds beautiful.

(20kg each for three days? What on earth did you take with you?)

Jenny's load was lighter. I was carrying the tent, sleeping gear, compressed laundry, and a lot of the food.

Day #1: Eat the luggage.
