Prepping for chase-up calls to job applications. J taught me enough to charm with an attempt at speaking Suomi. One thing working in a building full of Indian expats teaches me is the way inflection can take a word and make it sound like two alien ones. Apparently this rule holds with Suomi. So, inflection I get, enunciation I get, conjugation is going to kill me I think.

Hey I meant to ask: how is it you managed to stay in Egypt so long? I'm looking at Finland, and it's tricky. Really tricky. Basically I need either a). marriage, b). 2-year live-in relationship or c). an employer willing to jump through hoops on my behalf.

Egypt has different residency laws; all I needed to do was pay for a visa extension at the main admin offices in downtown Cairo. You can extend as many times as you like from memory.

Somehow I suspect it's way different for other countries.
