Jan. 9th, 2010 01:06 pmI'm sure I've said this before, but years ago when Roger Corman did an appearance here at ACMI I asked him for some career advice and he said "Don't do too much at once."
I thought I'd taken that advice to heart. I only now realise it can be applied to everything. Life is so much more pleasurable and effective when I can focus on a handful of things. Books get written, plans come together and even cooking breakfast is just fun. I stood there flipping sausages and tomatoes and looking at my hands and just being amazed that I'm here to do this. I'm not being sapped from nine directions. I'm making good money, I'm funnelling it toward what I want done, and in what's left I'm writing a book and hanging with friends. And in return I get to galavant. Long-term. Across the world. (Touch wood.) Christ... what took me so long?
In short: whee!
