Just gonna say, that clip of the WTC at the end remains spooky. Admittedly, anything this the WTC is a bit spooky in retrospect, but Max Q were totally a "cyberpunk" sorta band.
I hadn't noticed that, but year it is. Ghostly, even. And they were, in a way that's not really communicable to anyone who doesn't remember what that word meant and how it felt at the end of the Eighties.
I'd also like to point out the above post, and imagine your current self reading it to your 1989 self. I invite you to wonder at the scale of the nerdgasm your moon language would have induced.
Doesn't matter. I need to rip more vinyl anyway. And since you gave me Paranoia we're cool. And I don't tend to rip vinyl until asked because it's such pain.
but that vid reminded me what a rock'n album that was. I have some NO I ripped for trayce. I'll try and package it up. It just might take a while since my winbox has been neglected a bit lately.
Thanks for linking to this vid, and for this conversation thread. I loved this song at the time, but didn't even know what cyberpunk *was* until years later. And I'm glad Michael got to do something valuable and personal apart from INXS before he died.
And the soundtrack for 2011? Usher, Lady Gaga and that damned Bieber thing.

I don't beliebe that. :) No, it could be true. It was three years before that Cyberpunk docco was released, and back then three years was forever.

And Ollie had one last tilt at good music before he discovered Trance. (Tangent: Snog are still going. Huh).
Fun Fact: In aerospace engineering, max Q is the point of maximum dynamic pressure, the point at which aerodynamic stress on a spacecraft in atmospheric flight is maximized.

Date: 2011-03-16 01:41 pm (UTC)I consider it important, but I never knew what at the time.
If you want a rip I can probably sort you.

Date: 2011-03-16 01:54 pm (UTC)That is the best description of Max Q and Cyberpunk. If you could capture the zietgiest in a bottle as it was happening, that would be it.
And now I need to watch the second half of a movie about knights and motorcycles. Thanks, Mr Romero. That's zietgiesty too, I suppose.
(RevDrD linked to a rip of Max Q two years back with B-sides but I doubt it's still active. Juts saying.)
