Three consecutive LJ posts from three different people in different parts of the world, all talking about how their friends are suddenly breeding and what the hell is going on.

Weird.

EDIT: My use of 'breeding' was unintended to be loaded. Didn't realise the associations with the whole childfree thing. If anything I thought it was a bit funny. Sorry about that.

There does seem to be rather a plague of pregnancies at the moment, yes.

We're in that age bracket, so it's expected. The unexpected clustering is what throws me.

I love how romantically you put it, too.

Who are you, Anne Geddes?

The term's devoid of judgment.

I'm glad it's so for you. (Given how you've talked about the various kids you've encountered, and what I seem to recall your saying about potentially having kids yourself, I assumed that.) It's a slightly sore usage for me (and for some others) because of the way I've seen it used in vehemently childfree usage.

's okay. I don't expect anyone to keep up with all of my sore spots - I can't keep up with everyone else's. Just have apologies at hand, and if I hit the button too many times, it's clearly a change of culture that I've got to be aware of.

Now 'baby farming', that I can get behind.

Hah. I remember getting jumped on once for using the word "rape" in the context of killing things to mine the ore they guarded in WoW. Because sometimes "to plunder (a place); despoil. to seize, take, or carry off by force. " isn't just a cigar....

Heh heh heh.

We live in a world of PC gonne madde - though I have to confess to being in the camp that finds the gamer use of 'rape' and 'gay' to be pretty ignorant. The former probably because rape is commonplace and it's trashed the lives of people I know, which makes it pretty assaultive. The groundsman at my old high school, for example, had seen his entire family executed by Nazis. Some kids thought it funny to walk past, say 'Seig Heil' and watch him lose his shit. It's not funny. But 200 years from now that phrase could just be comedic punctuation and little else.

'Breed' is, well, unattached to anything like that really, as far as I can tell.

I can't believe I'm that guy who just rationalised that on the internet.
