Managed to get a solid 8 hours which is great.  Got a couple of shows today, including Gutted: the musical featuring The Penny Dreadfuls and Jim Bob from Carter USM.  It is apparently fantastic.

Got woken by a call from my bank.  My last credit card's been suspended because there's no branch here for me to make a deposit to.  Fortunately a friend paid me back what they owed me so that should just see me through to the flight home, touch wood.  And DK's making a card payment on my behalf just in case.

Might get in touch with the recruiter in Melbourne and see if she can set me up with some work in advance of my getting back.  Keep the time on my arse to a minimum. 

In the meantime I'm free til 3 so now seems like a good time to get a couple of articles to The Age.  New York and Memphis I'm thinking.  Fingers crossed.

I passed a rack of them today. And no, I can't afford it. Well... maybe I can. I've been passing over hokey shots of the castle, pipers and architecture in the hope of finding a photograph of a man throwing up haggis.

Hey that movie I saw at MIFF, 'The Illusionist' was set mostly in Edinburgh. There is a crazy sweeping 3D pan over the city, and it did look somewhat fantastical.

Ah! I've been hearing people talk about a film called The Illusionist and thinking they were on about the 2006 film of the same name with Edward Norton and Paul Giamatti. Didn't know there was a new one with that title. Thanks!

Edinburgh is wonderful. It's sort of folded over itself, with streets running below other ones. There also used to be a shop, right in the middle of prime retail real estate, that'd been there forever and just sold brushes and balls of string. Nothing else. Sadly it may have closed down now.
