It wouldn't matter when he was born, provided he was right for the role - which he isn't. Fact is, the film needs a less-than-obvious approach and I'm not convinced the director's right either. The Earthside stuff should pretty much have the look and feel of Nil By Mouth, and when it transfers to orbital it should almost be like the characters have wound up in a completely different movie.
